Kale: Another Combination for the Fall

– Posted in: Garden Plants

Kale and Salvia in cutting garden
In strolling about my garden, with a new camera in tow, I focused on finding interesting fall plant combinations. When I came upon some ruffled, silver/greenish leaved kale with maroon ribbing and stems juxtapositioned against the chartreuse leaves of a salvia that Nan mentioned in an earlier post (mine didn’t bloom either), I thought, yes, this combination is really worth noting: something that I used in my cutting gardening this year but that could easily be planted up in herbaceous borders. So, a thank you to Nan for reminding me that kale is certainly one of those great plants whose leaves can work with a whole range of plant colors, shapes and textures. And you can count on it to consistently give a garden an infusion of color straight through the fall.
